No neutral options 3 pole
Hello folks.
I have completely replaced all above ground switches with kasa smart switches and been impressed with the functionality, integration and installation ease.
Amongst my fleet I have a handful of 3 pole setups, most of which have been easy to sort out.
However, I have an instance of a dead-end where there is no neutral at all in the remote box, the installation was done using 14-3 (black, red, white) making use of all three sheaths to complete the traveler and load. One of these is a particularly long and bound up run, which I cannot easily re-run.
I was reading that there may be a new version available which bypassed the need for a neutral, with some clever bleeding to keep the always on active, as long as the main had a neutral, but I've been unable to find this.
I am hoping to acquire two of these to replace the parts of the pairs I have, restoring the functionality without too much fuss.
Cheers

Hi,
While HS210 is designed to work in pairs, if only one of the two junction boxes has a neutral wire bundle, you may still be able to use HS210. The instructions in the following FAQ > "What if my switch don't provide a neutral wire?" may help.
HS210 Installation FAQ Content
Note: The HS210 that connects to the neutral wire should connect to the Live wire in the circuit, rather than the load wire.

@Solla-topee thanks for the reply, but it seems this suggestion is to leave the "dumb" light switch in place, where there is no neutral replacing only one side of the pair with a smart switch.
This is not aesthetically acceptable, and I would rather remove it completely, putting a blank in the box than have a single physical switch remain.
The current functionality allows the light to be controlled via the single working switch remotely and physically, it's just only controlled from the one physical location, rather than both.

Hi,
If you do not want to leave the "dumb" light switch, you can also use two HS210, one is connected to live, neutral, and travel wires, and the other is connected to travel and load wires. However, in this case, only the HS210 connected to the live wire can be configured in the Kasa app, and you can only control the connected light through it.

@Solla-topee yes, that's the configuration it is currently in.
The switch is wired in to the travelers and load for safety, with it's neutral capped off.
It doesn't function, but completes the circuit for the functional switch which does have the neutral.

Hi,
If you want to control the connected light via two smart switches, but one wall socket lacks a neutral wire, the Tapo S515D KIT may suit you. Please refer to the following instructions to see the wiring diagram of the Tapo S515D KIT and see if it helps.
