24/7 recording doesn't detect everythings
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out because I’m having some trouble with the motion detection on my new Tapo C460. I specifically bought this model for its 24/7 continuous recording capability, but the detection performance is currently disappointing.
The camera fails to detect any movement in the corners of the frame, specifically at a distance of about 6 to 7 meters.
When I watch the live feed, I can clearly see myself moving in those areas, but the camera triggers no motion detection event.
I understand that the PIR sensor has physical limitations regarding angle and distance. However, since the camera is in 24/7 mode, it should theoretically use image analysis to detect pixel changes between frames, which shouldn't be limited by the PIR sensor's range.
- 24/7 recording is working perfectly, I can go back into the timeline and clearly see myself moving in those areas. The footage is there, so the camera is recording correctly.
- Detection zones are correctly configured and covering the entire field of view.
- Motion Detection is enabled with high sensitivity.
- 24/7 recording mode is active.
At the moment, the camera isn't performing any better than a C410 at half the price. Does anyone have an explanation for why the software detection isn't picking up movement that is clearly visible on screen? Is there a specific setting to force "Pixel-Based" detection over "PIR-Based" detection ?
Any help or solutions would be greatly appreciated!
