Feature Request: Option to reserve 2-3GB of buffer space on SD cards for optimization
Tuesday
Model: Tapo C222
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

I would like to suggest a new feature for the Tapo C222 (and other Tapo cameras) regarding SD card management.

Currently, the camera fills the SD card to 100% capacity. This often leads to performance issues, slower playback loading, and potentially shorter lifespan for the SD card because there is no "breathing room" for the file system to optimize.

The Request:

Please add an option in the storage settings to reserve a small amount of space (e.g., 2GB or 3GB) instead of filling the card completely. Having this "buffer" would:

Improve the speed of the "Loop Recording" overwrite process.

Reduce file system errors and the need for frequent formatting.

Make the playback interface more responsive when the card is nearly full.

Many users would appreciate this "Optimization Buffer" to ensure better long-term reliability of their local storage.

Hi,
Generally, the camera's performance and slow playback loading don't have a direct relation to a full SD card. The lifespan of an SD card is primarily related to the number of read & write cycles.
If you encounter any problems while using your camera or SD card, please describe the phenomenon in detail, along with the SD card's model number and capacity, so we can better assist you.
Best Regards
