HI,

I bought 2 Tapo C460 kits and everything work great but... I was not at home last week and my Internet was down a few hours and exactly then someone was in my garden but the camera didn't record anything. I mean it should anyway records also if Internet is not available???
I search on the SD Card but nothing.
I reproduce this behavior i cut my Internet and go in front of my camera but nothing was recorder. As soon my internet is back and i walk in front of my camera it record...

For securyty reason it should every time record and not only if internet is available or i'm wrong??

Thanks and excuse my English :-)

Hello,

Thank you for joining the community and for providing detailed information about your Tapo C460 KIT. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and please don’t worry about your English — your explanation is very clear.

First of all, to clarify an important point: under normal conditions, the Tapo C460 can still record to the microSD card even when the internet connection is temporarily unavailable, as long as motion is correctly detected and the camera is awakened.

To better understand the behavior in your specific scenario, we kindly ask you to carry out the following brief checks:

  1. Enable camera diagnostics in the Tapo app, so that relevant system information can be collected for analysis if needed. Open the Tapo app, tap the camera’s model card to enter the camera’s Live View page> tap the icon at the top right corner of the Live View page to go to the Device Settings page> click on Advanced Settings and enable Diagnose. The log file will be stored on the SD card.

2. When the camera is offline, please move in front of it and observe whether the LED indicator turns on. If the LED does not turn on, this indicates that the camera was not awakened. If the camera does not wake up, motion detection will not be triggered and no recording can be generated.

3.  If the LED does turn on while offline, once the camera is back online, please check the Playback page to see whether a recording from the test period is available.

After testing, please also review the date of the most recent recording. In some cases, if time synchronization fails while the camera is offline, a recording may be saved under an earlier date, making it easier to miss.

This case seems to require further investigation. To assist with this case, a specialist will help to follow it up through email. Please check your inbox later to confirm.
