Model: Deco BE65
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.2

Hi all, Please help

just bought a new TP Link Deco Be65 (triple pack)

everything seems to be working well except my sky q and sky mini box. I read TP link advise to hard wire these but these were working fine with my old ISP mesh (EE/BT whole home) is there anyway I can this working over Wi-Fi, I have tried a number of things

turned off fast roaming in app

turned off beamforming in app

given devices static IP's

tried forcing it to closest node which is main node

tried forcing it to 2.4ghz in app

uldated tp link firmware

whatever I try the sky boxes go offline all the time, they do seem to reconnect themselves afterwards

so frustrating as this kit is not cheap and I really like it but if I cannot get it to work with sky i will be forced to send it back to shop:

Hi,
You can enable a 2.4 GHz IoT network on the Deco BE65, set the wireless security type to WPA2-PSK, turn off the Sky Mini box, move the Sky Q next to the main Deco, and then check whether the Sky Q box connects to the IoT network successfully, and whether the Sky Q box is working.

If the same phenomenon persists, please confirm whether the problem is that the Sky Q box is connected to the Deco's Wi-Fi but has no IP address or internet connection, or whether it fails to connect to the Deco's Wi-Fi.

Best Regards

Hi, thanks for your response. I don’t have any issues adding it to the network — the problem is that the connection keeps dropping shortly after it’s added. I’ve just tried enabling the IoT network on the Deco and connected it through that instead, so I’ll see how that goes.

It seems like quite a few other people are having similar issues getting their Sky boxes to work properly with Deco systems. I think it might be related to the Sky boxes creating their own mini mesh network. The strange thing is I’ve never had this issue with my Sky boxes on other mesh systems.

Hello,

Try to change the main deco.

I've had a similar issue with Sonos.

Hi,
The following is an article about the Sky Q box and Deco. In your situation, you can also try disabling the 5 GHz band on your Sky Q and Sky Q Mini boxes to see if this helps.
Can Sky Q work with Deco?

I have tried every setting to try and get this working over Wi-Fi and nothing works they still randomly disconnect. As article says connecting via Ethernet seems the only option.

deco app settings that I have tried

Enabled iot and added sky boxes to network
Beamforming off

fast roaming off

Mesh disabled

2.4 GHz only

use specific node only

reserved ip address's

Hi,
When your Sky Q and Sky Mini boxes disconnect from Deco, do they lose their Wi-Fi connection, or remain connected but have no internet connection? Can you send us the pictures of the network/internet status pages on your Sky Q and Sky Mini box? If they still have IP addresses, can you successfully ping them from your laptop on the same network?
Best regards

hi yes, both devices show offline in deco app and have no connection. They connect at first then eventually drop

going to try the advice from this link  Can Sky Q work with Deco? - Home Network Community and connect my two sky boxes to deco nodes via ethernet, does one have to be connected to main node or can they be connected by ethernet to any node?

Need Desperate Help With My Deco BE65 Setup

Hi , I’m looking for some advice regarding my current setup, as I’m having ongoing stability issues.

Current setup

TP-Link Deco BE65 triple pack + 4th node

One Deco is set as the main router (I removed my EE ISP router completely) Main Deco is connected directly to the BT ONT box via Ethernet

Initially, everything in the house was working well except for my Sky boxes. I tried multiple fixes including: Turning Fast Roaming on/off Disabling Beamforming Creating a separate SSID for the Sky boxes Various other settings changes

However, the Sky boxes kept randomly dropping connection.

To solve this, I bought another BE65 node and connected both Sky boxes via Ethernet to their own Deco nodes. I also disabled Wi-Fi on both Sky boxes. Since doing this, the Sky boxes are now stable, but the rest of my home internet has become unreliable.

What I’m now seeing: Devices not staying connected to the nearest Deco and dropping Random lag and instability General roaming issues around the house

All Deco nodes show “good” signal quality, and I’ve already tried optimising the network and changing channels, but the problems continue.

I’m starting to think I may now have too many nodes too close together, causing congestion or overlap. For example, downstairs I now have: 1 main Deco 2 additional Deco nodes (one for each Sky box)

Unfortunately, running Ethernet directly from the Sky boxes back to the main node isn’t really possible, which is why I originally went with a mesh setup.

any ideas?

I work for an UK based ISP and did a lot of digging into this a long time ago for them. I found that the channel width and channel number used by the Sky Q 5GHz network would often interfere with (clash) the ISP routers we were using.

The fix was to turn off the 5GHz in the Sky Q boxes, or at the very least try manually setting the channels and or channel width, and leave the 2.4GHz active. Here's a 3rd party site with instructions on how. https://rsw.io/sky-q-hidden-engineers-menu/?amp

As for distance between the nodes, you could always try turning on the settings you'd previously disabled and or using the Deco app to restrict certain devices to certain nodes.
