Things You May Want To Know

1. Is Smart Action 2.0 available for Kasa devices?

Yes! In addition to the skills supported in the Kasa App itself, syncing your Kasa device to the Tapo App will give you the ability to turn on additional skill permissions for your Kasa device!

2. When will the Smart Action 2.0 be officially released?

05/17/2024 Update  Phase Release Begins

3. Why can't I manage my automation or shortcut rules suddenly?

Smart Action 2.0 feature is available in the testing version 3.2.204(Android) and 3.2.206 (iOS) only. The smart action rules created or saved through the testing version cannot be edited on other App versions. But they're still visible and take effect.

If you have enabled the App auto-update, the new version is likely to overwrite the testing version.

Did anyone managed to find a way to get notified when an "alarm" is raised? Maybe through  custom integration that could raise a "critical" push notification or an SMS?

I managed through iOS shortcuts to enable disable push notification for all sensors (I always have the notification on Tapo sensors ON and I disable/enable the system push notification for Tapo App), but again this notification is quite "silent" and probably won't hear it when I am out in a crowded place.

[Update]
I manage to find some kind of workaround to get at least something in my mobile when the "alarm" is triggered.

1) With the help of IOS shortcuts, I enable the alarm on my Tapo system (Run automation), and enable push notification on my mobile for Tapo App.

2) When an alarm is raised a smart plug is switched on. The bulb when lights on enable a trigger on IFTTT, which then triggers ClickSend SMS provider to send me an SMS that alarm is triggered.

With the above two automation, I get an SMS when the alarm is triggered which is something more "noticeable" than a simple push notification, and with the push notification I can see with sensor triggered the alarm.

Of course this is not something that I expected when I bought my Tapo devices but unfortunately I do not think that we will get a new release any time soon..

Hi @ThomasZ

I've said it before, on this thread and others, that Webhooks are the obvious way to do this. These are the gateway to all other connected devices and ecosystems, and Tapo should have a native way of calling a URL with a payload - without having a lightbulb switch on to trigger it.

As you say though, development doesn't seem to happen at any pace.

Any updates on this?

Ok

any news?

Hey everyone,

with the newest Beta-App everything works fine again.

Despite the warning not to install on phone, for me on my samsung galaxy phone it works smooth.

I also use a android simulator on my pc as a tablet to work even more effective!

Thank you TP-Link!

P.S.: Is there a possibility that you can develop smoke alarms? That would be insane!!!

Hi,

A few months ago the conditional (if) option was removed from the beta and broke all my automations that I had created with it.

I've since contacted support and requested Dev feedback bit have never gotten a response.

When will this be repeased and why was it removed from the beta?

I've been waiting, uninstalling and reinstalling but it has never come back.

Subscribing to this post... sorry for adding to the string of useless posts but this this the only way... and we were asked to subscribe. Now while I'm here... guys please an update on smart action 2.0 release... even if it's further away than previously mentioned... it's better to be transparent... it's clear that there are a lot of Beta users with uneditable automations... so we just want to have a better idea how long we need to put up with this. Thx.

So.... when is this (geofencing) coming to tapo app? As of 2024-05-15 no sign of it...
