I bought and installed tp=link smart plugs and a HS200 switch with no issues. I then bought a HS210 set. When I checked I only had a common (White) lead in one of the two boxes, so I just wired one HS210 switch and it works perfectly. (Ijust mad sure after programming the switch I said finished to the other questions in Kasa).  When I tried to wire the second switch into a different 3 way switch system in my home, as in the first case, only one box had a common wire so I put the switch in the box with a common wire checking all the connections. When I turned on the breaker the light attached to the switch blinks on and off and the switch clicks. This starts a second after the power to the line is turned on.  Any ideas? I've double checked the wiring between the two switches and it seems to be OK.

Switching the blacks, turning the power off and moving the wires would only cause problems if the connections weren't tight. Clicking continually often means the neutral (white) is incorrect or loose.

Could be a defective switch but 99% of the time if a switch restarts when you turn it on (and the load side drops out) it's wiring.  Usually it's that you haven't connected the neutral properly or the wiring is "power through fixture".  Might be a good idea to consult an electrician.

From the current situation, it seems that something went wrong about the physical installation.

Instruction as below: https://www.tp-link.com/us/download/HS210-KIT.html#video https://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-2009.html

Furthermore, you can post a picture of the physical connection of the 2nd unit to do further analysis.

@Nave123

Please refer to the setup video and FAQ to double-check the wiring, you can send us the picture of the wiring or get some help from an electrician.

@Stella.Q

I wired my HS200 switch tonight.

Two blacks to my old switch, a bundle of whites in the back, and ground to the old switch.

At first install, I could not get the orange light to light up...tried refreshing/resetting. No luck.

Took switch off wall, switched the two black wires...did nothing else.

Worked.

But I had to flip the power off again to push things back in.  Did that.

Power back on, and the switch just clicks continually.  No idea why.

Any ideas?

I put the old switch back and it works fine.

@Alex18 thank you for this- I had two single switches in 1 double box.  I hooked up the "left one" first - worked great (the white Neutral to all four white wires.). I had to wait for more switches to arrive.  For the white Neutral wires, Two were coming in from the left & two from the right of the upper back of the box. When the 2nd Switch arrived - I installed as I did the right, but I split up the white wires - 1 from the left & 1 from right to each switch - then the previously installed switched started blinking on and off and there was the Clicking noise.  I pulled both switches out and Re-twisted together the four white wires back together and twisted in both white wires from each of the two switch.  And it works great now.  thank you
