Hello Good Afternoon,

 

the last couple of days 5 of my 6 tapo L920-5 strip lights have started behaving strangely, there all upto date and tapo app upto date.

 

all the strip lights are set on a schedule to come on at 5pm and then go off at 10pm and been doing these perfectly fine for last 3 months.

 

untill this weekend the lights are not coming on. Except 1, if i open the tapo app. They all show online and  then aprox 20/30secs later then automatically turn on. 


I've tried turning them on and off at the plug, 

I've tried repairing them to my wifi, i have full wifi signal, im using a TP-link Deco X50 Mesh Hub and 2 repeaters. I have 350mb Broaband connection. 
 

im thinking theres been a recent firmware upate with a bug. 
 

assistance would be most appreciated.

Will the light strip turn off normally according to the schedule? Is it just the 5 PM "turn on" schedule that isn't working?

 

Please try to create a new schedule for testing.

 

When you repaired the light strip, did you perform a soft reset (reset wifi settings) or factory reset? How to Reset Tapo Light Strip

Hi Wayne, 

 

its happening on any Turn on schedule, i have 2 a day  one in morning before i got to work and then go off and then come on again when i get home or should. 
 

turning off appears to be working. 
 

also this morning while on annual leave ive asked alexa to turn on the group ive set, alexa responds ok as should.  But no physical strip lights on, so i open the tapo app and indeed  those lights are showing on, and 5s- 10s later with out pressing anything the strip lights indeed come to life. 
 

im not sure if its a app bug or a firmware bug on led drivers, but any automation is not working until the app is opened 

 

i did a soft reset? Doing it 6 times is a ballache again

Are you saying the light strip will turn on automatically after you open the Tapo app? And this is not the online status of the light strip displayed within the app?

 

Can you reproduce this problem and record a video?

 

Try to create a new "turn on" schedule and check if the problem still occurs.

sorry for the delay in responding, yes the strip lights only turn when app is opened 

 

please see video taken tonight where it shows all 6 strip lights off. And then spring into life soon as the app is opened she clearly shows the lights already stating on with in the App..

Thank you Wayne. Yes its all 6 strip lights now, the schedules work fine on my normal tapo light bulbs
