Model: Tapo C210
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.2.3 Build 251113 Rel.50321n

Hello,

I would like to report an issue with my Tapo camera that happens consistently after a router reboot.

Every time the router is restarted (for example during a firmware update), the camera loses the Wi-Fi connection and does not reconnect automatically once the network is available again. The camera remains offline indefinitely.

The only way to recover the connection is to unplug and reconnect the power cable of the camera. This behavior is fully reproducible and happens every time the router reboots.

Additional information:

  • The camera is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network

  • Signal strength is good

  • Other Wi-Fi devices reconnect normally after router reboot

  • The issue seems related to Wi-Fi reconnection handling after network loss

Please let me know if this is a known issue or if there is any firmware update planned to address it.

Thank you.

Hi,
Usually, the Tapo camera will try to reconnect to the Wi-Fi network after disconnecting. In your situation, please confirm the following information for the reported phenomenon.

  1. What's the model number of your router?

  2. If the router has the same 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi names, please set the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi name to a different one for a try.

  3. Is there an SD card inserted into the camera?

  4. You can enable a hotspot Wi-Fi on your phone, factory reset the camera, configure it with another phone, and connect it to the hotspot Wi-Fi. After the camera is working when connected to the hotspot Wi-Fi, try to turn the Wi-Fi off and on, then test whether the camera reconnects to the hotspot Wi-Fi automatically.

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee Hi,

Thank you for your response. Please find the requested information below:

  1. Router model:
    AVM FRITZ!Box 5590 Fiber

  2. Wi-Fi SSIDs:
The 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks already have different SSID names.
The camera is connected only to the 2.4 GHz network.

  3. SD card:
There is no SD card inserted in the camera.

  4. Factory reset / firmware:
The camera has been factory reset 2–3 times since purchase, as I initially thought this issue could be configuration-related.
The camera is currently running the latest available firmware.

Additional notes:

  • The issue happens specifically after the router reboots (for example, during router firmware updates).

  • Other Wi-Fi devices reconnect normally after the router is back online.

  • I have multiple IoT devices from other brands, including Shelly and Cecotec, connected to the same network. All of them reconnect automatically without any issues after a router reboot.

  • The only devices that fail to reconnect are the Tapo cameras, which remain offline indefinitely until the power cable is unplugged and reconnected.

Please let me know if you need any additional logs or tests from my side.
I would also like to know if this behavior is a known issue or if there is any firmware update planned to address it.

Thank you.
