Always Turn switch off after X minutes
Can't believe this doesn't exist in either firmware or IFTTT. Imperative for homes with kids. I would like the switch toalways turn off after X number of minutes. (How many houses do the kids leave the lights on...).
Unfortunately with IFTTT, there is no IF TP LINK SWITCH state, then action. But considering the firmware has this sort of, you can set a timer to turn the switch on or off after x amount of time, it is almost there. I just want to ALWAYS turn the light off if it turned on after x amount of time.
Can't this be added? Wemo has this. Or add tp link switch to device/service side of ifttt.
Thanks.

This is actually more difficult than it sounds. Usually switches with this feature need to have a sensor that can detect room occupancy. Without a sensor, a rule or timer can go off while there is still someone in the room. This could create further issues. So you may not see this feature for sometime. However, later this year a new product the HS230 will be coming out. This product will boast a sensor and also have a built in voice assistant. This product will have the potenital for this feature, although we will need to wait till its closer to release date for more info.
You can check it out here.

It would be a very useful feature for an HS105, to be able to turn off everytime after X number of minutes. Useful to keep appliances from being left on. WeMo plugs have this feature.
In my case, I need it to run my hot water pump for only 5 minutes at a time. Have had to create a routine using Stringify or Alexa app.

Can you please share details the routine that you created? I am trying to do the same thing.
Thanks
