Model: Deco X60
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.5.0 Build 20210121 Rel. 54042

I recently installed a Deco x60 to replace my patchwork of routers.  I had 100/100 internet and just upgraded to 300/300.

The "test internet speed" button under "more" in the Deco app shows speeds of 299/335 (I'm guessing this tests the speeds the Deco sees from the cable modem?)

I go to the speed test on Google from my phone, iPad and laptop and see speeds ranging around 72/90 on wifi 5g from the main Deco in the same room.  This was what I was seeing before the 300/300 upgrade.  So what am I doing wrong?

Also, I have one unit in my garage feeding my yard - signal it going through an uninsulated wood / vyinal exterior wall.  I thought WiFi6 was supposed to have better coverage - signal ig dropping off significantly.

Thanks for any help!

@EnginWiFi

Hi, Have you tested the Ethernet speed from the main Deco?

And how about the link speed on the phone or laptop when they are connected to 5ghz of the main Deco?

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2265/

At the same time, please check the QoS settings on the Deco APP:

Deco APP>>>QoS>>>(Set Application priority to Standard, Remove all high priority devices, set the Bandwidth to 1000Mbps upload and 1000Mbps download)

Thank you.

@TP-Link Thanks for the reply.  Modem speed is 287/286 and 237/285 from the port on the main Deco.  Is the cable that comes with the Deco rated for these speeds?  It seems the cable connecting one Deco to the main was slowing things down - unplugged, I'm now getting 197/243 on WiFi to my laptop.  Still almost 100mbps down from the cable modem.  Connected on 5g and QoS settings are as you mentioned.  The associated link speed from WiFi status is 866.7mbps.

@EnginWiFi

Hi,

So currently, the Ethernet speed from the modem is 287/286 m/s; Ethernet from the main Deco is 237/285 m/s, 5G from the main Deco is 197/243 m/s(link speed is 866.7m/s), right?

For the Deco X60, the maximum link speed is up to 2402m/s for ax standard with MU-MIMO supported, while the test device is 866.7m/s which is only ac standard.

So 197 m/s out of 237m/s  on 5ghz, the speed is quite acceptable for the tested devices.

And The cable in the box is capable of 1 G/s.

While, if once the satellite Deco was connected to the main Deco via cable, the Wi-Fi speed drooped to 70-90m/s again, which is not normal.

And it seemed like the device automatically picked up the 2.4ghz first, instead of the 5ghz.
