set the range extender up, but I am unable to link it with my current network. It displays "Unsecured Network" . How do I fix this error>

Sorry for the late reply. 

Range extender default SSID is an open network(or unsecured Network) requires no Wi-Fi password. 

Make sure your device is connected to that unsecured WiFi network, and then try to login Tp-Link web page or use Tether app to set up the extender, here are some instructions that may help:
