Model: Archer C1200
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I just installed a 2 pack Dec X20 Mesh system which replaced an Archer C1200.  Can I use the Archer as an access point in the network?  My main goal is to connect an SSD drive via USB to the Archer to use as a shared network drive.  I don't even really need it be a wireless AP.

Proposed Setup:

Modem->Main Deco X20->Switch->Slave Deco X20->Archer C1200 w/ SSD

@Smokey1998

Yes, you can use the C1200 as an access point by connecting it to the satellite Deco X20 with an Ethernet cable. You can then enable and access the SSD attached on it as follows:

One more note, if there is no need for the wireless network of the C1200, it's suggested to disable both the 2.4G and 5G wireless network on it to avoid wireless interference with the Deco X20.

@Kevin_Z

Thanks.  I see that the recommended file system when setting up an external drive is NFTS or FAT32.  Will it work with Apple File System?  I am using a MacBook.

Also, the proposed setup was not clear.  I intend on connecting the C1200 directly to the switch, not the X20 satellite.
