Model: RE450
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.0.4 Build 210531 Rel.34858n (6971)

Hi,

I have been using the RE450 v4 for a long time and was using the ethernet port to be connected with my home network and there was an option to select the ethernet speed between 2.4 and 5.0 GHz

After upgrading the firmware to 1.0.4, this option has been disappeared and the internet speed reaching my devices has gone down to 9 Mbps

Is there any solution for this situation? or can I downgrade to the previous firmware?

Updated answer.

After checking some resources,RE450 V4 1.0.4 has some update on the UI and that would be the new UI design (new UI does not have the Ethernet port setup)

And kindly note that the firmware RE450 V4 1.0.4 firmware can not be downgraded as the release note.

If you like the RE450 Ethernet port to use 5Ghz Wi-Fi band, you could try High Speed Mode in the Range Extender and use 5Ghz Wi-Fi band to connect to router and see if that helps to boost Ethernet speed.

Hello   @Ahmed_Beheary

May I know do you use RE450 in extender mode which RE wirelessly connects to router? The new firmware update the UI, but high speed mode function is still there you could select Auto (5Ghz bridge to router) or manually select 2.4Ghz to bridge router.

How to configure High Speed Mode in my Range Extender (new logo)

If you do not see this option, please share a photo of the UI, thank you,

Thanks for your reply  @Solla-topee

but my issue is not about "High-Speed mode"

yes I'm connected to the main router wirelessly but the issue is about a function called "Ethernet Port" which used to allow me to choose the internet speed coming out the Ethernet cable from the extender between 2.4GHz or 5.0GHz

which disappeared after the update to 1.0.4

  @Solla-topee

I have the same problem.  (I think)

I went from a re450 v1 to a re450 v4 with the newest firmware and am getting terrible speeds. 1.0.4 is on it, and it will not allow 1.0.3 to be 'upgraded'.   I thought it might be the difference in hardware versions but it could be a slow port. :(

Is there a trick to downgrading?  ca4dd0cdc0ab4269b5ee4d59c590961c

When I try...

  Hi @Datamage

Thank you for your continued feedback, the RE450 V4 1.0.4 UI has updated and that firmware can not be downgraded, you may try the suggestion of setting up high speed mode in range extender as the updated answer above.

  @Solla-topee

Ok.  So I confirmed I'm not nuts.  I bought a tp-link 450 v1 extender on Kijiji and have it hooked back up in my office.

Average speeds 460-490MB. The New Improved v4, speeds of 120-190MB. Sometimes newer is NOT better.

Someone at TP-Link wanna fix it?

PS. Anyone wanna buy a v4?   ;)
