Model: TL-SG105
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I got a switch to hardwire internet to a couple computers in my house. A laptop (mac) and a desktop (windows). If I disconnect the laptop from the ethernet the desktop loses connectivity and can't regain it until the laptop is plugged back in.

Is it because I'm using the unmanaged switch? Is the switch faulty? Is it an issue on the windows netwrork setup?

  @imnotskippy

Hi, welcome to the community.

I don't think it is caused by the unmanaged switch.

Maybe you could connect both computers via Ethernet cable behind the main router, bypass the TL-SG105 to see whether the same issue continued.

Best regards.

  @David-TP I finally figured out the issue. It has to do with the hub that connects everything to the laptop. When I disconnect the network cable from the hub, instead of just disconnecting the hub from the computer, the desktop connection doesn't drop.

Weird.
