Model: Archer AX1800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.1 Build 20210521 rel.72481(5553)

1Hi,

My AX1800 is running with firmware 1.3.1 Build 20210521 rel.72481(5553) and it's telling me there is an update to be done. The update is giving me the following error:

  • Unable to connect to the cloud server. Please try again later.

And downloading manually + uploading gets stuck on the uploading step.

Any recommendation?

Thanks,

JMS

  @jmspaggi,

There have been a few users reporting issues downloading firmware updates, so I will have to check with our teams to see if there were any issues with the cloud recently.

For now, you can use the firmware file on your product's support page to download the latest updates and upgrade manually. Please verify your hardware version by looking at the label of the device before upgrading your firmware manually.

Also, if there is no issue with our systems, you may try changing the DNS server of your network to see if the download will continue. I would also recommend trying to upgrade after rebooting your router, which will clear the cache and memory of the router, potentially easing the setup process.

  @Riley_S I tried updating the DNS for 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 but I get the same error (Unable to connect to the cloud server. Please try again later)

Device hardware is v1.20. I have downloaded the firmware file, but when trying to upload manually, it stays stuck at "0% Uploading..." forever :-/

Anything else I can try?

  @Riley_S

Rebooting the modem allowed it to do the update! Thanks for the hint! It fixed my VPN issue!

  @jmspaggi,

Glad you got it all worked out.

The router's do have a limited storage and memory - so if the router had been up a long time, these caches may have filled up leaving no room for the firmware upload. The reboot may have also fixed any routing issues that were occurring by forcing all the devices to rebuild their connections.
