Model: Archer AX55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.2 Build 20230511

Received a notification of new firmware and updated to 1.2.2 Build 20230511 5 days ago. Since then we have had loss of internet at the router 4 times over 4 days. In my troubleshooting I noticed that when I tried to login to the router to check status, it presented the login, accepted pass but would never load the interface. Speeds are normal and ping to router is 1ms so seems the connection is good. The problem seems to be at the router itself.

Has anyone else had a similar issue with connections since upgrading to this firmware? It is the only change that has been made and never had this issue prior. I wanted to get some input prior to reverting the firmware.

  @RickJamesBish

I updated firmware through the Tether app today.  HomeShield Parental Controls Online Time Analysis seems to work better, shows per hour usage for today, though Time Spent Online is not accurate.  At 9pm or so it dropped internet.  I will see if it drops internet every day.  I read on the firmware page that NOTE: 1. This firmware can not be degraded to the previous version;

I am having the same issue with this firmware! Are you running OneMesh or Easy Mesh extenders? I am and lost them as part of my config as part of this buggy firmware. I have to reboot my router nearly daily now.

  @AdamPfromMN No OneMesh. My router is set up about as basic as a router can be set. I removed it from the network and installed an identical model that had not been updated and it has been running without issue.

  @RickJamesBish Definitely a major bug in this firmware and we now can't roll back.  Hope that TP-Link gets on this ASAP as they obviously have a major bug with this one!

  @AdamPfromMN I am running a OneMesh Network with one range extender.  No problems with the range extender.  Router internet only dropped one day so far, the day I updated firmware.  I am still evaluating HomeShield Parental Controls Time Spent Online and Online Time Analysis, but I am getting data since the firmware update.  The previous firmware had No Data for Online Time Analysis.

Hello @RickJamesBish  @krystal1

Thank you very much for reaching out to us and welcome to the TP-Link community.

Regarding the dropping issue you experience with the new firmware of the AX55, we hope you could help provide more details.

Will the internet LED turn orange/red when the internet connection drops? If not, are both the wired connection and wireless connection dropping or only the wireless connection drops?

If it's only the wireless connection dropping, please confirm if it's the 2.4G or 5G dropping or both. You could create different wireless network names for the 2.4G and 5G, choose clear channels for both, then observe if they will be stable.

@AdamPfromMN I replied to your thread here, please also confirm, thank you.

The evening of the day I updated firmware I noticed my laptop had no wireless internet connection. My router internet LED turned orange. On Tether, the router did not appear as a local or cloud device, only my range extender showed as a local device as usual. I unplugged the router and plugged it back in to reboot it. The router has not dropped internet since.

  @Kevin_Z

my router is only dropping the wireless networks. At times one band will be down but the other won't be. Most of the time both bands drop. The lights are all green despite the wireless network being down.

  @Kevin_Z

My router is set up about as basic as you can get. One Mesh is disabled. Our modem is configured in pass-through and the router is linked to the modem via its Mac Address. The router provides DHCP.

After initial setup, all worked well for about 4 to 6 hours, after which Wi-fi on the router was visible but would not accept connections, failing to assign IP.

This prompted me to login to the router to find out what the issue was. The router would present the login page but it was extremely slow and would not load the interface after entering credentials.

The network topology is as follows...

Modem (pass-through) > TPlink Router (DHCP) > TPLink TL-SG2210MP Switch > TPlink EAP610 OD ----- X4 EAP225OD

The rest of the internet and network seemed to work fine. Speeds were normal. The only issue seems to be the TPlink Router Wi-fi and accessing its interface. I do not know what the CPU and Memory usage looked like when this happened because I could never access the router interface. This has happened daily and requires a reboot of the modem. The internet light was always green.

This is in an RV park so we have quite a few users. We could not afford to leave the router in place and just hope that the problem only affected the router Wi-Fi and we could not roll back to a stable firmware. We replaced it with a Ubiquiti UDM Pro and ditched the TPlink router so I will not be able to test any further.

Just now my laptop and phone show as "connected no internet". All router lights are green. In the Tether app My Devices show Cloud device Archer AX55 offline and Local device range extender showed a few clients. I unplugged and replugged in modem and router to restore internet and see clients on the router in Tether just as I did before on May 18, the day I updated the firmware.
