Deco Configuration Backup
Seems like this has been requested many times across the Deco line, but there is no backup function for my Deco unit. I've checked in the mobile app and browser.
Many many reasons why this is a must have already been shared.
For me, it took me many hours to add all my DHCP reservations, update device names, etc inside the mobile app. It is imperative that we be able to back up all of this configuration work. Many stories of people losing all their work as their main unit crashes.
I read on one single thread that config data may be stored in the TPLink cloud. I haven't been able to find any other evidence to support this. Is this true?

@PavPev why would they do this? Almost feels like they are setting themselves up for accusations of fraud. The UI clearly states that you can back up your configuation in order to restore it if need be. But when you actually need to do this, there simply isn't a way. Infuriating.

@xjsimon So this post on Deco Configuration backup has not been updated for over a year.
In the last week I have been forced to factory reset my Deco X73-DSL because of problems connecting to my ISP.
I have many address reservations and port forwardings which take hours to setup in the Deco App.
A backup & restore Configuration seems a very basic function for a router.
Please TP Link address this.

@xjsimon I dont know why some time ago they released a version that allowed to save a backup file with bin extension, for later remove this feature ... Implemented something that everyone wants to remove after ...

This is very frustrating! I created a backup because I am in the process of changing my whole system, thinking that later I would have the option to delete this backup since it contains sensitive information. Reading this post I am furious that I don't have the option to delete my backup? Aren't we protected from GDPR? How can I get this backup deleted from tp-links cloud servers? Can someone help? I'm really stressed about this. I tried contacting support to have the file removed and haven't heard back, yet.
Obviously I unchecked the automatic backup to prevent future backups but there is one backup left on the cloud. By changing my network SSID and password not to match the ones from the backup, do I have something to worry about in a potential data breach of these network configuration files?

@xjsimon yes, the config data is currently stored in cloud, which sucks for most of us who just want a local file as a backup of our network config. I've done this for years on my AirPort Extreme, and after spending quite some time to configure my deco, I can't back up the configuration because I refuse to have all the information (SSIDs, passwords, fixed device IPs and MAC addresses, connected drive access password, etc) stored on a cloud somewhere).
TP should provide users with a way to export config as a file that we can save locally (on phones, computers, etc).

Hi, the backup settings will be saved as Deco APP local data in the mobile phone storage and securely encrypted in the TP-Link Cloud. The local data will be deleted when the Deco APP is removed.
For more details, please refer to Deco APP Configuration Backup
Best regards.

as many users have already indicated the issue is that the cloud-stored file cannot be deleted. One might not want the config file to be on the cloud. I think users should be given the flexibility to choose where to back up the config file, and to be able to download or export the file from the app as well (and to import config file later on if needed).

@BE63_User We are being ignored ladies and gentlemen. It's been said countless times that we'd like to have a local backup option, and delete the cloud based save of our configurations. We keep getting the same generic answers without a resolution of what we'd all like.

@DezM and these features we're requesting are really basic and should be easy to add (especially they already have the backup feature done. It's simply having the option to skip the cloud upload!)
