Model: TL-SG105
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version:

My objective is to achieve a shielded network that eliminates troublesome noise. I understand I need to use shielded cables, shielded and grounded patch panel, shielded patch cables but I am confused as to which switch will allow me to achieve my objective. Perhaps using the TL-SG105 which is metal encased and connects electrically via its AC power adapter will do? I am confussed because I read: (1) switch should be grounded; (2) then again I read, that grounding of a switch is not necessary?

Thank you for offering clarification and direction.

  @DeDwo

Hi, Welcome to the community.

The grounding of shield cables is necessary and It could be complemented by directly grounding the network switch.

For TL-SG105, its Ethernet ports are shielded ports but it doesn't have a grounded connector.

TL-SG1016PE /TL-SG1016 would be good choices.

Thank you very much and best regards.
