OneMesh not working (?)

Model: Archer AXE75
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.9 Build 20231115 rel.37295(4555)

I purchased two identical routers, ARCHER AXE75 (EU) v1.0 and attempting to initialize OneMesh functionality in my home.

Both routers were properly updated (via Tether app) to latest firmware: 1.1.9 Build 20231115 rel.37295(4555)

This is my setup:

43fe5ed12749449dbab1f0de3a5f3480

I am not IT person, and so far on this journey I was guided by chatgpt as I lack even the basic routing knowledge.

Expectations:

  • as I walk with my portable devices within my home, wifi connection would switch between Router 1 & Router 2 based on proximity or signal strength without usage of 3rd-party apps for switching networks

Quick recap of above image:

  • Router 2 is set to AP mode
  • SSID & PW are same for both wifi networks generated by both routers
  • in Router 1 the OneMesh option is enabled
  • in Router 2 there is no OneMesh option in settings at all (perhaps because Router 2 is in AP mode?)

Questions:

  • why OneMesh is not working? is there something wrong with my setup?
  • does OneMesh not working whenever one of the routers is in AP mode? (please note that I am not interested in theoretical connectivity standards of OneMesh, but rather the OneMesh within the scope of above setup)
  • in Tether app when viewing NETWORK MAP > MESH DEVICES there are 0 found devices. whats the issue?
  • should SSID & PW generated by both routers be same or different?
  • should Router 1 be connected to Router 2 like LAN to WAN instead of LAN to LAN?
  • how can I even detect if OneMesh is working at all, or properly?
  • should Router 2 be set into 192.168.2.1 instead of 192.168.1.2?

thank you in advance for detailed answer

Onemesh is not available in AP mode - Onemesh FAQ - Q8/A8.

Refer my post in your other thread for building Onemesh between two routers.
