Connectivity Issue with Google Pages using Starlink and TP-Link Deco
Connectivity Issue with Google Pages using Starlink and TP-Link Deco
Hello everyone,
I'm facing an unusual issue with my network and would really appreciate any suggestions or if someone has experienced something similar.
Network Setup:
- ISP: Starlink
- Primary Router: Starlink
- Network Extension: TP-Link DecoX20 (connected via Ethernet to the Starlink router)
- Devices: Various devices connected to the Deco network, both via Wi-Fi and Ethernet.
Issue:
I can't access any Google pages (Google.com, Gmail, YouTube, etc.) from any device connected to my Deco network. All other websites seem to work fine. If I connect directly to the Starlink network without going through Deco, I can access Google pages without any issues.
Solutions Attempted:
- DNS Change:
- I tried changing the DNS on the Deco network to Google's DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).
- I also tried other public DNS servers like Cloudflare (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1).
- Despite these changes, the issue persists.
Question for the Community:
Has anyone experienced a similar issue or have any idea what might be causing this? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!

@ManuelSoria did you ever get this solved? Just got x20 and having this exact same issue. My first thought was DNS as well and it fixed nothing. Then I found your post.

@MarbleRye I did a factory reset and did not put it in bypass mode. I just plugged the deco straight into the starlink router and now I run side by side networks. It's been working perfectly since.

@ManuelSoria The last couple of days I've been having this exact same issue, using Starlink and TP-Link Deco 4 node Mesh.
Symptoms and facts:
- Accessing any google service (search, gmail, photos etc) works very intermittently.
- This affects 2 windows laptops, a mac book, and 2 samsung phones.
- Disabling ESET anti-virus didn't fix the problem.
- Accessing using Incognito window didn't fix the problem.
2 things that did work:
- Using my phone as a Mobile Hotspot and connecting to it instead of Starlink via the Mesh.
- Back on Starlink via the Mesh wifi: turning on a VPN.

@GuiltyCol How does it work directly on Starlink, without the mesh?
Does the mesh run in Router or AP mode?
The Google services are perhaps sensitive to the IP addresses (IPv4 and/or IPv6) used.
I suggest comparing the response from https://test-ipv6.com/.
"works very intermittently": sometimes, everything works?

I didn't try Starlink without the Mesh to be fair, as I suspect it's a Starlink issue. Yes, sometimes things work, sometimes not, it's weird. Checking that website showed this:
- No IPv6 address detected [more info]
- You appear to be able to browse the IPv4 Internet only. You will not be able to reach IPv6-only sites.
