Model: Archer BE800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.6

Wondering if there are any plans to release the use of automated frequency coordination with routers that have the 6ghz band?

For those that use the Qualcomm networking pro platform (like the be800 or be550), the capability is there.

Hey @MDA400,

Not that I've been made aware of.

That said, I can reach out to our engineers to put your interest in this feature on their radar.

  @Ryan please do. Per the WiFi Alliance and the IEEE task force which established the WiFi 7 standards, WiFi 7 certification requires AFC. It would be nice to know when it will be added, especially since almost all of your WiFi 7 products (BE800, GE800, etc.) say it's coming soon by firmware update on their product pages.

 Hi  @Ryan - is there any status update on this being implemented?

Thank you for any information you can provide.

  @Ryan

Any news yet on AFC?  Especially for the GE800.

Hi @Ryan  - is there any update on the support of Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) for Wifi 7 routers like the be550, be800, ge800 that support the 6ghz band?

I notice that other TP-link access points like in the deco series or Omada series have support for this feature, but will it ever be brought to these routers i mentioned?

For example, the 75 watt power adapter of the be800/ge800 should be able to support the extra power required for Standard Range 6ghz.

Is it antenna/amplifier limitation perhaps?

Any information you can provide, many of us here would like to know. Thank you!

  @MDA400

Even within the Deco and Omada product lineup, there are only 2 products that I know of that officially support AFC as mentioned on their product page.

Deco BE65 Outdoor

Omada EAP772 Outdoor

Unofficially, there are 3 more products based on FCC as of right now. For AFC to work within USA, they need to pass the AFC DUT harness report with the FCC. Having said that, it remains to be seen if they actually enable AFC support because they don't make a mention on this any where on their product page. It could be because hardware v1 doesn't support it.

  @MDA400 there are additional internal components required for AFC (GPS chipset, barometer, etc.) that are NOT part of those routers, that's why they do NOT mention AFC anywhere on their product pages. Without those components, they will NOT be getting AFC.

There are very few routers (less than 6) that have AFC, and maybe 6 or 7 others what might get it in future firmware updates. 99% of all Wifi 7 routers will never get AFC.

By the way, I have the GE800 and I get 6 GHz all over my 2700 square foot house without AFC.  YMMV.

  @Richardj186

DFS doesnt require these components, they can get that information just by IP geolocation. Only difference is DFS scans once when a frequency is selected and AFC continuously.

As far as I read, even for omada AP's that were released before the EAP772-Outdoor, that AFc will be released in a later firmware update.
