Model: Archer BE800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.6 Build 20240808 rel.26673

Hello,

I've had the router for about a year. It has been working superb and with no issues.

However, since the new firmware dropped and I updated the firmware, I'm having insability and speed drop issues with wifi, especially on my mobile devices.

I have tried to factory reset, I have tried to restart. I have set the router to restart every night at 1:00 AM. But still the problems are there. I want to revert back to the previous firmware but don't know if this will solve the issue or not or is it even possible to downgrade a firmware or not.

Please address this issue.

Thank you.

  @Taftak

There are some firmware upgrades that you can not go back to a previous version. The warning is in the information for the firmware update.

Most times there is a way to put in a previous version but varies a bit by some models. Best to contact support directly for the procedure and where to get the firmware.

In the past I have downloaded the firmware to my PC, disconnect from the internet, connect the router direct to a PC, and load the firmware. But that was 10 years or more ago and thinges do change.

  @ArcherC8

Thank you for the help and recommendation. I think i must wait for the next update top drop.

The problem especially is worse when you connect to the MLO network. I've tried to keep the 2.4 and 5 GHz AC ope and also the 6E. it seems more stable but still I have problem with instability.

  @Taftak If you want, give the beta firmware a try that they posted the other day.  It has MLO improvements and you can go back to the public build if you don't like it.  I am using it and has been working good for me.

Hi, Thank you for the recommendation. I will try the beta firmware. BTW one more question.... could the instability be related to the available bands to select in the 5GHz or 6GHz ? I remember once when I had an ASUS router I had a problem with my mobile devices (Specifically Apple iPhone and MacBook) that they didn't play nice with specific bands and I had to change those to get the most reliability.

Hi All, Thank you for all the support. I just did something. I separated all the bands i.e. 2.4 separate 5GHz separate and 6GHz separate (disabled smart connect). I am noticing that the shortcoming is on the 5GHz. I get terrible speeds and instability with the 5GHz connection. can there be something wrong with the antenna or the signal that is transferring the 5GHz signal? 2.4 and 6GHZ give me the max speed of their capability (max on 2.4 theoretical speed limit) and (512 MBps as my ISP gives me 512 up and down stream). I have hard reset the router. downgraded the firmware and all the other types of troubleshooting and finally noticed that my 5GHz is the problem. is there any recommendations ?

  @Taftak

I would change the WIFI settings for the 5 GHz band such as different channels and bandwidth.

Also test with multiple devices as sometimes it is the device, not the router.

If the router's antennas screw on, try swapping them.

Note some router changes require a reboot or power cycle.
