I finally got the h500 and I'm a bit disappointed on what I can do with it. 

I know I'm missing something about it's uses and capabilities. I have 2 outside cams and a video doorbell all Tapo, all work and show up in the app. But what can I do with the hub with them? I ordered other stuff, all Tapo and matter, bulbs, a button thing, a plug plus 2 indoor cams and a solar powered outdoor cam. And a 2tb HDD.I really want to hook it all up and play with it but I'm confused about how to play with it. The multi cams thing is neat.

 I still have some questions about EXACTLY how to hook up and install everything.  Does anyone know of a step by step guide for the h500 initial set up? 

 I'm new here and still learning to navigate site. Thanks for any info!

  @Wayne-TP what can be done with the USB? Will it work as a NAS? Is it only for transferring FROM the h500? Does it have any other functions?

 A "passthrough USB C "does what?  Just charge the tablet or other functions?

 I'm planning to hook the HDMI to my AV system. Is there anything special that will happen? Or bad? What sound field does it put out? 

Are there any  expected updates to uses for this device?

The USB can back up videos stored on the H500 and supports USB sharing. You can check this article for more details. H500 - Backup Your Clips with USB Backup and Network Access (Sharing)

 

The type-C port can charge other devices, like a battery-powered camera, a smartphone, etc. But it does not support data transfer.

 

H500's HDMI doesn't support audio output.

Thanks, the USB stuff is interesting. I finally got a correct HDD installed and it's nice! The cameras all have options for continuous recording. Unfortunately the doorbell does not and that's the one I wanted to do it. Hopefully there will be an update to address that and the no sound on HDMI. It would also be great to add some functions for the USB C. Overall it's a good device that will be great with some updates. Thanks for the info
