I am having issues getting a stable connection for my portal on my Deco BE11000 home network. My signal is strong and nothing else in the house has any issues. I get a stable portal connection for a few minute then it goes blurry and I have to reconnect to clear it up. Rinse and repeat until i get frustrated and stop using the portal. I am looking for advice from anyone that may be using the same set up and is having success with portal useage.

Can you please provide the hardware and firmware version of your deco?

You can find this info by logging into http://tplinkdeco.net/webpages/index.html

Once your logged in click on Advanced > System > Firmware upgrade.

Under "Online Upgrade" it will show your deco model then hardware version in () then your firmware version

Also while your on this page click on "Check for Upgrades" button to make sure you have the most up to date firmware.

Try connecting the portal on 5ghz band and set up QOS to prioritize the Portal and my PS5

Far as i know this model has smart connect, I dont have a way to connect to 5gz as opposed to the 2.4gz. Also the portal cant use the wifi 6 so that doesnt matter here.

I have both system prioritized and the PS5 itself is hardwired directly into the modem.

If you know the Mac address of the connect you can force it to connect to the 5 GHz band and it's recommended by PlayStation to use the 5 GHz band

Recommended network setup for PS Portal

You can enjoy Remote Play on PS Portal if you have a stable high-speed Wi-Fi connection.

For the best Remote Play experience on your PS Portal, try following the recommended settings below:

  • Connect your PS5 console to the internet using a wired connection.
  • If you’re connecting your PS5 to the internet using Wi-Fi, connect your PS5 console and PS Portal to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Use a 5GHz Wi-Fi connection to connect your PS Portal to the internet.
  • Some Wi-Fi routers have a band steering function that allows them to automatically switch between a 2.4GHz connection and a 5GHz connection. If possible, disable this feature when connecting your PS Portal to your Wi-Fi router.
  • For a better play experience, a high-speed connection of at least 15Mbps is recommended*.

*If you’re using public Wi-Fi, be aware that the quality of the internet connection may be out of your control, and could impact the quality of your play experience.

To find your mac address It should be under one of the items in the settings menu on the connect. In the deco app from the Network tab click on Online Clients then use the search option to the the connect.

Once you find it click on it then click on connection preference and under Preferred WiFi Band change it to 5 GHz

If you still have issues repeat all the steps above but do not click on "Connection Preference" click on "Mesh Technology" and turn it off for your connect.

You can also try the "Network Optimization" tool you can find it by clicking on More in the deco app
