Model: Archer AXE5400
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have just installed my AXE5400 Tri-Band 6E router and attached an external USB drive to it using a 3.0 USB Hub.  Only the one USB device is attached to the hub.  Initially the device showed up in my network as a media device and following some instructions I found on the Internet,  I signed on to the router and turned off Media sharing and turned on Secure Sharing.  Now there is no network device showing at all other than my router.  I thought I followed the instructions I found at "https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/253/" correctly to get to my device - but it didn't work, but now I'm stuck.  I come seeking guidance as to what I did wrong.  The drive was there initally as a media device and when I tried to make changes to use as it is intended it dissappeared. What the heck did I do to mess this up, it should be so simple.   Thanks in advance for your help.

All advice and guidance is appreciated,

Joe

Hello @JoenTN ,

Welcome to our community.

Please ensure that the USB drive's partition format is compatible with the router's USB support. You can refer to the specifications page of your router on the official website to find out the supported formats.

It is recommended to use NTFS because this format has better compatibility and performance. For the macOS systems, you can use exFAT or HFS+.

The router does not guarantee compatibility with external hard drive enclosures, especially multi-bay ones. Compatibility may vary, and performance cannot be assured.

If you have another Hard Drive, please test it and check again.
