Hello all:

Please bear with me as I have several questions here.  So any instructions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

We've always had TP-Link routers and extenders, and just over the past week I purchased two higher powered units, which are:

The TP-Link BE6500 wireless router

The TP-Link BE3200 Mesh Extender

The issue that we are experiencing now is that we also have a Panasonic wireless phone system at home, and we basically have 5 phones (one in each room).  Prior to getting these new TP-Link devices, we were having no issues with static, crackling noises, etc.  Our previous TP-Link router and extender combination were the AX500 router and the AC1200 extender.

However, now that I've connected the new TP-Link units, we are experiencing noisy phone lines.  I'm guessing that the wireless signals are conflicting.

So my first question here is, "Are there settings within the Router that I can adjust to choose a different frequency range, so it doesn't conflict with our home phones?"  I'm sure there's an easy fix for this, but I'm a novice with all of this.

2nd question involves this:

Within my settings, I noticed a selection called:  OFDMA/MU-MIMO.  To the right of that is a drop down box with 3 choices:

OFDMA+MU-MIMO

OFDMA Only

Disabled.

Right now, by default, it is labeled with a "Disabled."  My question involves, "What does this do?"  Should I select one of the two choices (other than disabled)?  I have a regular home WiFi setup that we're not sharing with anyone else.

Thanks so much...

Hello @BenHerrmann ,

Welcome to our community.

Here are some steps you can take to reduce interference:
1. Change the Wi-Fi Channel: Log in to your TP-Link router's web interface (usually at http://tplinkwifi.net). Go to Wireless Settings and try switching to a different channel on the 2.4GHz band. Channels 1, 6, and 11 are typically recommended as they do not overlap.
2. Separate Devices Physically: Move your router and cordless phone base stations further apart. Increasing the distance between them can help minimize signal interference.
3. Use the 5GHz Band: If your devices support it, connect your Wi-Fi devices to the 5GHz band, which does not interfere with most cordless phones.
4. Reduce Interference: Avoid placing the router near other electronic devices, especially those using wireless signals.

As for OFDMA/MU-MIMO:

OFDMA enables multiple users to transmit data simultaneously, and thus greatly improves speed and efficiency. Noted that only when your clients also support OFDMA, can you fully enjoy the benefits. It is disabled by default.

A router with the MU-MIMO feature serves multiple devices simultaneously while a traditional router serves only one user at a time. That means MU-MIMO can provide a faster, more efficient Wi-Fi network for multiusers. It is disabled by default.

Note: Devices supporting 5GHz wireless band can enjoy the MU-MIMO service.
