Model: Archer T3U
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

This is similar to a previous topic, with Archer T3U USB adapter (hardware version V1) dropping connection repeatedly.  In my case, this started happening after Windows 11 updated the driver via a Realtek optional update, I think this was near the beginning of December 2025.  The driver version on that update is 1030.52.731.2025.  Ever since that time, my laptop will take spells where it shows no internet connection, then a few seconds later it reconnects, then every 10-30 seconds it resets again, over and over.

I had manually updated my driver earlier this year using the file from the TP-Link website, version 1030.44.0408.2024, which worked great.  However, I have repeatedly tried to uninstall the adapter/attempt to remove driver/reboot/re-install the 1030.44.0408.2024 driver, but Windows keeps insisting on sneakily re-installing the updated driver, which causes my network connection to again start dropping over and over.  This is extremely frustrating, is there any way to stop Windows from repeatedly trying to re-install this driver update?  I don't even know what folder the update is stored in - if I could figure that out then I could attempt to delete the file manually (although the new version of Windows seems to think it knows better than I do what I want to do).  Any assistance with this is greatly appreciated!

Hello  @Synntaxis ,

Welcome to our community.

May I know where you installed the driver? Can you provide the link?

To remove the old driver, please refer to How to remove old and useless drivers in Windows.

@Joseph-TP The driver update was performed during a Windows 11 update.  I don't recall if it was listed as an "optional" update or was part of a package of several updates, but it wasn't something I downloaded, it was done by Windows.  When I go to Windows Update and review the update history, it shows "Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - Net - 1030.52.731.2025 Successfully installed on 12/11/2025", and if I check the driver version when I have issues with the network dropping out repeatedly, it shows that version.  I am fairly certain my issues started happening after this update.  I followed a procedure I found on the TP-Link site, I don't remember if it was in a FAQ or on the forum article, that talked about how to roll back to an older driver, but it seems like the driver file keeps getting overwritten by Windows.  I had the install package for version 1030.44.0408.2024 which I downloaded from this website several months ago, and I attempt to re-install that version, by selecting to uninstall the TP-Link network adapter (and selecting "attempt to remove driver"), reboot, then run the install program I have for version 1030.44.0408.2024.  This works great for a while, and as a matter of fact I just got done doing that for about the 10th time a little while ago.  I show great signal on the Windows system tray icon, plus I have not had any connectivity issues since I did that about half an hour ago.  It just seems like that "updated" driver from Realtek is causing all the problems here.  I'm looking for any suggestions, not sure how to resolve this - I had even attempted to remove the driver file manually after uninstalling, but Windows user permissions prevents me from doing that.  I am assuming you mean for me to "remove unused driver" using that FAQ after uninstalling the device, but before rebooting?  I may try that the next time, I was not aware of that separate step being available.

Hello @Synntaxis ,

Thanks for getting back to me.

It seems you've rolled back to driver version 1030.44.0408.2024. Does the network adapter work normally on the PC now?

We are aware of the unexpected behavior caused by changes brought about by Windows updates and highly value your feedback.

I will reply here if there are any updates.

Thank you again for your support and understanding.

Hi @Synntaxis ,

Is there any update? We have released some solutions that may help you, please refer to Windows System 1030.52.731.2025 May Cause Signal Drop and Instability with WiFi 4/5 USB Adapters.

May I know which version of the adapter you are currently using?

If you reverted to the original or last Windows system driver but did not disable automatic updates, it may still be overwritten later. To provide an effective long-term solution, we may escalate your case to an engineer. We recommend sending an email to forumsupport.usa@tp-link.com with the details for further analysis.

Best Regards~
