Hello...

We have been using an AX5400 for about a year, without any problems.  It's WAN port is cabled to our ISP's modem.

I purchased a second AX5400, intending to configure it in bridge mode, connecting via Wi-Fi to the first AX5400, and using it's LAN ports to connect two printers that are Ethernet only, cabled to the new router's LAN ports, to be used in a part of the building without wired Ethernet.

I configured the new AX5400 in Access Point mode (there's no option for bridge mode or client mode), but I can't get this configuration to work, even when the two routers are placed next to each other.  It's not a signal strength issue.

Any suggestions?

No. The working modes do not support that.

look for a travel router for that function as some have it. To be effective, you need a good WIFI signal where you place it. If you can run a cable, an Ethernet switch is best.

Thank you for the reply.  I could try a travel router, or another solution that might work for us is to get an extender configured with EasyMesh, such as the TP-Link RE500X, which will give us a wired Ethernet port, and the (advantages?) of a mesh network.  I haven't used EasyMesh before, and don't know if it's a reliable topology, compared to adding an access point using a cabled connection back to a switch or router.

Do I have to use a router and an extender to configure an EasyMesh network, or can I create the mesh using two AX5400 routers and no extenders?

Any thoughts?

That router uses Onemesh.

found online that answers your question...

You can't use two routers in a OneMesh network. For OneMesh, at least for now, you can only have one Router. The rest of the devices have to be compatible Range Extenders or Powerline Adapters.

As I recall, onemesh and easymesh are not the same and do not work with each other.
