Re:"Respond to pings from WAN" setting not working

Hello @ZeldaP ,

Welcome to our community.

For your case, please try the following suggestions:

1. Verify the Firewall Setting:
   • Log into the router's web management page by visiting: https://tplinkwifi.net
   • Navigate to Advanced > Security > Firewall
   • Locate the "Respond to Pings from WAN" option and confirm it is disabled
   • Make sure to click "Save" after making any changes

2. Apply the Changes:
   • After confirming the setting is OFF and saved, try rebooting your router to ensure the changes take effect
   • Unplug the router for 10 seconds, then plug it back in
   • Wait for the router to fully restart (2-3 minutes)

3. Re-test:
   • Run the Shields Up! test again after the reboot to see if the ping response is now blocked

4. Additional Checks:
   • Ensure your router firmware is up to date (go to Advanced > System > Firmware Upgrade)
   • Check if there are any other firewall or security settings that might override this configuration
