Hi,

I'm trying to force 20 MHz bandwidth on 2.4 GHz, but the option is not available in my Deco mesh setup.

My network setup is:

  • 2 x Deco X95
  • 3 x Deco X55
  • 2 x Deco X50-Outdoor

All nodes are using Ethernet backhaul and the system is in bridge mode. The main Deco is the X95, since it is the most powerful node.

All firmware versions are the latest available as of 4/12/2026:

  • Deco X95: 1.2.5 Build 20240903
  • Deco X55: 1.8.0 Build 25102213
  • Deco X50-Outdoor: 1.3.1 Build 20251030

It looks like the X55 and X50-Outdoor firmware branches support bandwidth selection, but the X95 does not expose this option in my mesh.

I want this because I have seen 20 MHz make a huge difference for IoT stability. My Creality K2 printer had repeated Wi-Fi issues on a separate BE230 router, but once I set that network to 20 MHz only, it became rock solid. I'd like to do the same here so I can keep broad mesh coverage for my IoT devices while improving compatibility.

My questions are:

  • Is there an X95 beta firmware that enables 2.4 GHz bandwidth selection?
  • If I switch the main Deco to X55, will I be able to select bandwidth for the whole mesh, including the X95 nodes?

According to this page your Deco X95 as been marked EOL (End of Life) you can read more about tp-link's EOL policy here.

I recommend removing both of the X95 routers from your network as neither of them will receive any more security updates and to replace them with newer models

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.

According to TP-Link’s End-of-Life Policy, EOM (End of Maintenance) is when TP-Link no longer provides maintenance/security updates, and it is typically 3 years after EOS:
https://privacy.tp-link.com/web/website/policy

Based on the X95 EOL entry, if EOS is 6/16/2025, then EOM would be around 6/16/2028.

I also find it surprising that the X50, X55, and X95 are from roughly the same product generation, yet the X50 and X55 support bandwidth selection while the higher-end X95 does not.

I was hoping there might be a beta firmware for X95 that enables bandwidth selection for 2.4 GHz.

95  @LeonC1

Yes you are right it should still get updates till 6/16/2028. I assumed when it said it was at it's EOL that it was also at EOM. I haven't seen any beta firmware for the X95 usually when there is beta firmware they will post it on the forums.

@Ryan

Can you check to see if there is any beta firmware being worked on for the X95?

@HelpFixDecoApp,

I haven't been made aware of beta firmware for the X95 at this time; however, I can send this feedback up to our Deco team.

@LeonC1,

For your second question about swapping the X55 in as the Main Deco ― as long as it is running firmware that supports the feature, and is set as your Main Deco, I believe the Deco app should offer the option to adjust it on the 2.4 GHz band.

For example, I have a Deco BE68 as my main (supports the feature), and a Deco BE25-Outdoor in the mix (doesn't currently support it, to my knowledge), but I can adjust channel/width settings in the app under Wi-Fi Settings > Network Settings > Advanced > Channel Settings.

  @Ryan

Thanks for the info.

I used to run a mesh network with 6 × X55 nodes plus 2 × X50-Outdoor. When I used an X55 as the main node, I kept running into a 100% CPU usage issue.

Because of that, I ended up buying a 2-pack of X95 nodes. I replaced three of the X55 units with the X95s and set one of the X95 as the main router, which solved the CPU utilization issue.

For now, I’ll probably wait a bit for the new firmware update for the X95 before switching main back to x55 due to the cpu usage issue.
