Model: Archer AX21
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: Latest

I have KUB Fiber at both of my parents houses, same speed, 1 gig. One house uses the KUB Fiber router and the other uses the AX21. The house with the AX21 is giving issues only when playing Apex Legends on my PC. I've spent days trying to figure out this constant and annoying twitch every 0.5 seconds. I've spent hours doing research on things I can change in my PC settings and nothing fixed it. I ran LatencyMon and everything checked out fine. I've changed Ethernet cords, monitors, EVERYTHING. I even logged into the router via the internet to update firmware, change QoS, literally everything that I could, given my research. Keep in mind, the only difference between houses is the router, and from what I gathered, the AX21 should be a much better and faster router than the KUB one. I use an Ethernet connection at both houses and have also tried a WiFi connection, still nothing. Can someone please help.

Hello @m_sexton ,

Welcome to our community.

Since the anomaly is specific to the AX21 and occurs during gaming, this could be related to intermittent connection instability or features that interfere with gaming traffic. Here are some additional steps to try:

1. Disable UPNP and SIP ALG: Log into the web interface (http://tplinkwifi.net), go to Advanced > NAT Forwarding > UPNP and disable UPNP. Then go to Advanced > Security and disable SIP ALG. These features can sometimes affect gaming performance and cause micro-stutters.

2. Change DNS Servers: Go to Advanced > Network > Internet > Advanced Settings, and change the DNS servers to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8. This can help with connection stability.

3. Check Parental Controls: Open the Tether app and go to Parental Control to ensure no profiles are configured that might be affecting your connection.

4. Adjust Wireless Settings (if applicable): Even though you're using Ethernet primarily, go to Advanced > Wireless > Wireless Settings and try different Wi-Fi channels. Set 2.4GHz channel width to 20MHz and 5GHz to 80MHz or 40MHz to reduce interference.

5. MAC Clone: Since the KUB router works fine, try cloning its WAN MAC address on the AX21. Go to Advanced > Network > Internet and enable MAC Clone, using the MAC address from your KUB router.
