Currenlty TP-Link uses AFP for Time Machine to backup to a disk attached to the router.

The newly announced macOS 27 Golden Gate will require SMB for these Time Machine backups.

When will a firmware update be released for the router to be able to keep using Time Machine for backups?

Will there be a guide released stating how to change from AFP to SMB?
