Model: RE220
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0

It appears the RE220 Range Extender does not use the MAC address of the device, which is the MAC address the primary router binds an IP address to for static IP addressing.
The Range Extender uses a modified version of the MAC address of the device!
That causes the primary router to think it is a new device, and gives it a new IP address.

We can't have devices that support web login change IP addresses on the network based on which device they connect to for internet access!
And Parental Controls based on IP address or MAC address will become more tedious.

Can TP-Link Range Extenders be made to use the MAC address of the devices without altering it?

@Natey

No,  when a device connects through a range extender it is being transmitted by the range extender so the header of the MAC ID will change to that of the Range Extender.  This is how our range extenders work.

The reason for this is simply compatiblity.  Allowing the Range Extender to "change" the header of the MAC ID has a greater compatiblity rate than Range Extenders that do not.  This does unfortunetly have the side effect of breaking Static IP assignments when these client devices need to access through the Range Extender.
