Model: Archer A6
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.5 Build 20200630 rel.57690(4555)

Hello Everyone,

My place is two floor apartment in which I don't want to use a lot of cables, so my ISP are giving me media converter with from which I have 2 ports for Internet and 2 for IPTV.

The problem is that I connected the new Archer A6 to the internet port, I have a lot of signal, chanel is free, but I am not able to reach the speed of 200Mbps, only around 40Mbps.

I know that switch is 300Mbps and the ISP guarantees 200Mbps, but I still have an issue.

My network card on the PC is Archer T5E.

Could you give me soem advises?

Connect the PC via Ethernet direct bypassing the Archer A6 and see what speeds you get. If you do not get the speeds you are paying for, contact the ISP. We are assuming that your PC is capable of the faster speeds as it could be the PC. If you get good, speeds. reattach the A6, use the power adapter that came with it, check for firmware updates and install if any, connect the PC via Ethernet to the A6 and check your speeds again. If good, detach the Ethernet, power cycle the PC, and then test the WIFI speeds with the PC near (5-10 feet) the A6.

@ArcherC8 .

Hello,

I tried these steps bellow and currently the issue still persist on Wi-Fi, directly attached to the ISP media convertor, 200Mbps, after that directly to Archer with cable, again 200Mbps.

But on WiFi... every device I tried, PC, Laptop, Mobile phone, regardless of the lenght of the signal, I placed even the router on the second floor of the apartment, over the PC, same issue. Speed go little above, but not enough.

@BLADE666

Hi Blade,  What band are you connecting to?  2.4 GHz or 5GHz?  2.4GHz will be slower but has greater range. How close to the router are you testing the speeds?

@Carl

Hello Carl,

I tried both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, 5Ghz is little bit better. The router was placed next to the target, couple of centimeters but issue still persist, not even close to get the speed.
