Test the WIFI speed with multiple devices as it may be the device. May need to delete (forget) the network on the device and re-establish it if you used the same SSID and password as the old router. Be sure you are using the power adapter that came with the router. Try different channels and bandwidth. Is the speed loss on both bands? Are you using different SSIDs? Distance from router affects speed as does placement and things in between.
