Model: Archer AX1500
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 Build 20210421 Rel. 64516(5553)

The range on my Wi-Fi is poor with the 5GHz signal (2.4GHz range is better).

What is a recommended Access Point to use with my AX1500 Wi-Fi Router to support the 5GHz signal across a wider rage?

I have an older TPLink N300 Wi-Fi Range Extender that works (more or less) to extend the 2.4GHz signal.

I have Cat-6 everywhere including to the AP port in the ceiling, but have no AC power nearby, so I am thinking I may need to connect my AX1500 to a small Ethernet Switch with POE to the ceiling-mount Access Point. Any recommendations?

My current set-up is this:
Cable Modem from Spectrum with an ethernet port (marked 2.5Ghz).
TP-Pink AX1500 Hardware v1.2 Firmware v1.2.0

Cat-6 wiring

N300 Wi-Fi Range Extender

I also have an older TPLink WR940N v3, but I am under the impression it cannot function as an Access Point.

@TonyG2525

2.4 will always have better range the 5Ghz. Small changes in router placement can make a big difference. I found just turning my router about 30-45 degrees made a difference as did moving it 3 feet or so. I go 5Ghz coverage where I could not before.

You sould be able to use any device that supports AP mode with your router.

Most routers support it as do many of the TP Link extenders such as the RE650.

I use an extender but not in AP mode. I set it up to use one band for extender-to-device and the other band for extender-to-router witch gets me the coverage I need. Most try putting the extender to far from the router that results in poor results.
