I had been using my 3-node mesh network with an ethernet backhaul up until yesterday. I decided to hardwire all the bedrooms in the house to connect the desktops that we have and remove wifi from the equation for these devices, as well as any Rokus.  

 

My question is... how do I know that the remote node (the Deco M9 Plus) that I hardwired is actually using the hardwired ethernet for the backhaul as opposed to the dedicated wireless one? I don't see anywhere on the app for me to check this.

Hi, Sorry it is not related to the APP version, but the firmware of Deco M9 plus.

I just checked via your TP-Link ID and noticed that you are on the firmware 1.2.12 Build 20191014 Rel. 42025, which did not support displaying the signal source and the web UI login.

And you might need to update the Deco M9 firmware to be the latest 1.5.1 first:

My app doesn't show that information. MAC, yes. IP, yes. SIgnal source? There's no indication for 2.4/5.0 GHz or otherwise.  However, if I can figure out what it takes to get that information as recommended by your post, that would certainly solve my problem.  I'm going to try and see if my Deco app needs to be updated.  Edit: I have the latest version, so that's not it.

 

 

 

So this first picture is a Nintendo Switch.  Clearly, this would be on the wifi.  There's no indication that I can see that it is.

 

The next two pictures is a hardwired desktop:

 

 

 

These are the two settings windows that I can find.  Neither have a wired or wireless symbol.  

 

Considering I verified I have the latest version of the app according to Google Play, I'm not sure what I can look for.

I feel like I have a different version of the app somehow.  

 

So, I tap the Globe looking one on the main app screen.  That leads me to this:

 

 

The hardwired decos are Living Room and Bedroom.  Living Room is where the modem is.  Bedroom is hardwired through a switch behind the Living Room deco.  I tap Bedroom Deco and it looks like this:

 

 

The only options I have on this screen is to rename the Deco from the pencil icon or Reboot/Remove from the three vertical dots.

 

Again, I appreciate whatever guidance you can offer.

 

What sort of device are you running the Deco app on?  Is it an Android or Apple?

My Deco M9 Plus system has the imformation shown. My "Bedroom" node is connected to the "TV Room" the main node via 2.4GHz/5Ghz_1/5 Ghz_2. I see this by following the screens that TPLink shows. Internet button on the main page, then the particular node button.

What sort of device are you running this app on?  I'm wondering if it is a version difference between Android and Apple or something like that.

So I had to jump through some hoops.  "Update Deco" through the App said it is the latest version.

 

The instructions for the Deco M9 Plus V2 assume there is a web application UI.  Nowhere in the manual does it say how to access that. I've only ever had the option to configure this through the app.  Here's a link to the manual:

It only provides instructions for the phone application, not a web UI which is what the upgrade instructions mention.  

 

I tried the IP for the default gateway (which should be the Deco M9), but it reports the connection is being refused.  

 

I wound up stumbling across this on the TP-Link support forums:

Specifically, the recommended solution provided this link:

I unzipped that and ran the application and then used the bin recommend by the TP-Link CSR:

After the application completed, the network was up and down for about 5 minutes or so.  Eventually, when the dust settled, I got this:

 

 

I just added in the steps I took to fix this for a future user that might have the same problem.  Many thanks for the support. Problem solved!
