Hi, folks. I normally keep Access Control turned on for Whitelisting, but occasionally turn it off in order to grant access to a visitor (we're rural). When I turn it on or off, I usually need to do it six to eight times because after a brief pause it turns itself back off (or on) again, rejecting my choice. I can't just switch it and then go off to do other things, I have to babysit it for a while, turning it (for example) on again and again and again every time it reverts itself. That's very annoying and time consuming, but on an upbeat note I'm getting really god at Freecell (which I play while I wait watchfully). I'd like it very much if I could just turn it the heck off once when I want it off and turn it on once when I want it on and it'd stick where I set it.

Otherwise, the router is entirely stable and reliable, capable of speeds far in excess of my paid-for DSL, with no glitches, bobbles, or other bugs.

Oh, yes. This is on a fresh login, so it isn't just staling out and reverting. That would require a new login anyway, and it isn't asking me to log back in.

So... how do I make it more "sticky"?

TIA.

  @TDHofstetter

Try power cycle the router after you make the change.

  @ArcherC8 Good thought, but my computer is on the 1st floor and the router is in the basement and if/when it reverts, it does it after a pause of only 15-30 seconds and I'm too old to dash down the basement stairs and around behind the staircase in that interval.

laugh

I may rig up one of my laptops to do the deed, though, so I can take it downstairs and balance it on one of the condensate barrels while I bounce the power.

Thanks for the inspiration.

  @TDHofstetter

May not be as good, but try a reboot.

I do to recall if the whitelist works on guest networks. If not, that can be an option.
