Does the label on the outside of the router show the country code as 'EU'? If not, that may be the issue.

I would have expected different IP. I use a device based VPN and not a router based VPN as my current router does not support a VPN. Because mine is device based VPN, I can not see if the IP address...

Whenyou are on your PC and in a browser, what does a site like https://www.ipaddress.com/ show as your IP both with and without VPN. (do not post it. just tell us if it is the same or different).

Did not notice that when I posted. I did some other searches and did not find it either. Is the country code US on this router or is it some other country code?

Turn the router back on and set it back up but leave the wireless off and you should be able to attach devices to the Ethernet ports and connect your drive to the USB port.
