Model: HS220
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.0.3

Hello! When pressing the button on the physical switch, there's a short delay (maybe 0.5 seconds or so?) before the light turns on. I noticed on this thread (https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/243238) that, "HS220 V3:  Optimized on the HS220(US)V3 1.0.8 Build 220826 or later firmware". I have the same hardware version, including the US part, but there is no update to 1.0.8 available within the app, it just says "The firmware of all connected devices is up to date.

I've made sure that fade on/fade off speed is set to "instant", and that double tap/long press are both set to "None".

Am I missing something? Is version 1.0.3 the latest version, if not, how do I update if the app says it's up to date?

I talked to support, and they kept telling me to rewire the switch :/. The switch works just fine through the app and from the wall, what would changing the wires around do!!?! Apparently the version I'm on (1.0.3) is the latest, but I have a hard time believing that considering the forum post below...

  @SomethingSum,

Can you double check that you have a V3 on the device itself. From my knowledge, the option was completely removed for the V3 model due to the delay occurring.

We do not currently have an up-to-date list of the firmware for smart devices at our disposal; however, I will see what I can find from previous releases.

I do notice that in the post that you mention, it details having the double-tap option configured to instant on, rather than having it disabled. If the feature is showing in the menu, try configuring the device according to the V1/2 Instructions.

  @Riley_S On the box the switch came with, it says Ver: 3.8. On the app, it reports hardware version 3.0. I've also set the double-tap to "instant on" and I'm able to reproduce the same issue...

  @Riley_S Any update on whether or not I can remove this delay?

  @SomethingSum @Riley_S  I'm here to ask the same questions. Just purchased a bunch of HS220's and the delay when clicking the physical button is unacceptable. I too have Model: HS220,  Hardware Version: 3.0 and Firmware Version 1.0.3.  I have tried the Double Tap to "Instant" still slow, I've always switched it to "none." Still slow. 3 different rooms, this is not a wiring issue or a light bulb issue. The prior regular switches with the same bulbs had no issue with instant turn on.

I found the other forum with the Beta Firmwares but are the Beta Firmwares not for our versions? Are the HS220's I purchased supposed to be instant? They're not. Thanks.

  @Lighthearted I managed to solve the issue myself by installing the beta firmware for the hardware version v1 switches. Notice how the URL for the download contains V3? That one seemingly worked for me!
