Hello, I am trying to determine several things.
-
Video Quality Persistence
- Does my selection of "Video Quality" Pertain to:
- My in app view of the Cameras Stream? (So what image I see in the app?)
- The actual physical recording settings of the camera in question?
- When I select 2K I notice that it never sticks. It continually automatically goes back to 720p or 1080p etc. I have a gigabit connection and my upload/download speeds are both very high and very consistent.
- Also my wireless coverage is superb as I am a home automation specialist who chases signal abnormalities as a day job.
- Does my selection of "Video Quality" Pertain to:
-
Obtaining files or videos from the Camera.
- When I download a video from either the Cloud saved activity videos OR from my 24/7 recording on each camera/device:
- I get grainy video, which shows macroblocking, very severely, Very Low quality videos.
- From what I know about video cameras and encoders, this is due to streaming compression, not due to some inherent flaw with the camera's capability to record video. The camera likely has some High quality reference file that it streams to any client.
- There doesn't appear to be a way to get the actual file of the recording downloaded. Am I missing something?
- If the Camera can do "2K" but we are never able to actually get a file that is 2k from the camera what use is the extra capability?
- I get grainy video, which shows macroblocking, very severely, Very Low quality videos.
- When I download a video from either the Cloud saved activity videos OR from my 24/7 recording on each camera/device:
I have attached a reference Screenshot taken from my "Copy" downloaded from the kasa app of my 2K footage that illustrates my issue and probably that of many others.
These Cameras are SUPERB, but the features supporting their implementation have left me with some unanswerable questions. Any information would be appreciated.
