Model: Archer AX55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.2 Build 20230511 rel.51682(5553)

AX55 drops the internet connection every 8 to 10 hours, I have to turn power off and on to reconnect. When this happens all lights stay on green but I cannot access the router through Wi-Fi or Ethernet via the web portal. After the reboot all is well and the system log show no errors just this,

2023-05-31 21:01:45 Led Controller INFO [1107] Start to run WAN1_ON

2023-05-31 21:01:45 Led Controller INFO [1107] Start to run WAN0_OFF

2023-05-31 21:01:45 Led Controller INFO [1107] Start to run LAN_ON

I have had the router for over a year with NO problems until this latest firmware update (1.2.2 Build 20230511 rel.51682(5553)) I checked the download page to see if I could roll back to the previous firmware and see this

"NOTE:
1. This firmware can not be degraded to the previous version
;"

No power outages the router is not hot, my pc is connected via Ethernet. I have a Netgear cable modem that I own. The only thing I have changed in the last year is the Firmware.

I can't see how to trouble shoot without being able to communicate with the router and the router doesn't seem to know it is not working.

Any help would be appreciated

Hi @niabil

Thank you for posting on the TP-Link Community.

We do see some others also reporting similar dropout issues after upgrading the AX55 firmware to the latest 1.2.2 version, may you please tell us who is your internet provider?

Do you have any devices that are connected to the AX55 via Ethernet cables? Did they fail to connect to the internet either when the dropouts happen?

Our engineers are currently aware of and are looking into the feedback surrounding this issue. To better assist you, we would like to follow up with you directly via email in order to diagnose the router configurations along with your network environment. The diagnosis won’t take long, and the steps involved are quite simple. Please check your email and reply.

  @niabil

As per TP-Link Support I have downgraded my AX55 firmware to Version 1.2.0 for checking.

I did the change at 7:00 AM Wednesday June 1, 2023, as of this writing 12:25 AM June 2, 2023 I have had no problems.

I will post back in two days with an update or sooner if the problem reoccurs.

Thanks for the quick response.

  @niabil I am having the same problem.

First problem was ever since the new firmware update last weekend I lost all connection to my cameras for hours until I had to figure something out in the new firmware update.

Today was the 2nd time my internet just drops out for hours but all the lights are on green.

This is irritating! As I need connectivity for my surveillance cameras.

Note I had a good ISP my ISP gets good connectivity without the router. The router puts off good connectivity when its connected but it drops out. Im scared when ever I go out of town in the future I wont be to have connectivity with my cameras.

The reason being when it drops out I cannot even access the router to reboot it or anything even if the internet is down. I say internet is down but the internet isn't down the router just isn't broadcasting my internet it seems like. Again all power to the router, my router has been working beautifully until this new firmware update since last weekend. I love this router but whatever happened in the update theres definitely a patch that needs some adjusting. Last night at 2 am my internet just stopped broadcasting, and I have no scheduled power downs either.

Someone please help me out from tech support. Again I am very internet technically savvy and I have looked into everything I possibly could. When the router is working properly again it works very well. Just now it has been 2 times within a week that it just randomly goes out until I unplug it and plug it back in.

TP-Link support emailed me a link to a downgradable firmware V. 1.2.0 file. After installing V. 1.2.0 my Ax55 has been up for 3 days with no problems. Hope they can help you also. Niabil.

  @niabil How did you get them to e-mail you that?

Do I need to contact them myself or do I need to just wait for them to respond to these forums?

TIA

  @Kevin_Z

yes I want to proceed with falling it back. It worked fine on the last firmware. This new one is trash. I couldn't even connect my ring cameras or ring bridges without making a dhcp server I think is what it's called. I found the two mac address' for my bridges and added them to that server and they saw the network. That was frustrating in itself trying to figure that out because I had no idea I had to do it like that.

My router was working perfect until you guys changed the firmware.

  @niabil

I have been using the V1. 1.2.2 beta firmware for 2 days and 8 hrs. with NO problems.

I have 31 clients and a Linksys router AP connected via Ethernet, utilizing both 2.4 and 5 GHz along with IoT 2.4 and IoT 5 GHz (no guest), my Linksys also has 2.4 GHz and two 5 GHz  networks. I use 7 different SSID's.

One interesting thing, my KASA doorbell camera connected via 2.4gHz had problems connecting after the firmware upgrade. I checked the Wi-Fi signal and it was dropping out every 30 seconds and then popping back up for 30 seconds. I changed channel from "Auto" to channel 5 because it had the least traffic. I live in a condo there was at least 10 routers on channel 1, I think on Auto channel mode AX55 was jumping from channel to channel. No buffering at all after the channel change.

Thank you for all the help, I am assuming that when the next stable Firmware comes out I can just upgrade as usual.

Niabil
