Model: Deco BE65-Outdoor
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20250325 Rel. 11119

I have added a BE65-Outdoor. I have noticed a few issues recently. One I have a hisense TV outside that will not connect to the BE65-Outdoor. Seems it never picks it, and always connects to another node, even the other node is frther away. I even set the connection preference to connect to it. I also tried to set up a BE25-Outdoor unit to connect to the BE65-Outdoor, with connect prefernce the BE 65-outdoor. It will never connect.

I was just wondering if there is something that can improve the connection issues? I was also looking would the DECO BE65 PRO latest firmware work on the BE65-Outdoor?

Just FYI. aside from these two devices the rest of my network is all BE63's

Thanks for any guidence

Well as it turns out the TV doesnt seem to be having the connection issue. Not sure why earlier.. maybe Iwas impatient.

But the one that bugs me is my BE25-Outdoor will not connect to the BE65-Outdoor, even as its connection preference. It connects to one in the house much further away.  All my DECO's have Ethernet backhaul, except the BE25-Outdoor.

  @JimAvera

  1. I do not recommend using the Be65 Pro firmware for your BE-65 Outdoor unit(s)

2. Check to make sure that all of your deco unit(s) are using the most up to date firmware by logging into http://tplinkdeco.net/

Once your logged in go to Advanced - System - Firmware Upgrade - Check for Upgrades - Download any missing firmware

3. Move the Be25 closer to the Be65 to see if it will connect maybe its a range issue?

4, If none of the above works you can try to reset the BE25 outdoor unit (press the button on the bottom of the unit till it's blinking blue) and re-add it back into your network and then see if it connects

If none of the above works please let me know

  @HelpFixDecoApp

Thanks for the reply.

The unit is now just under 30ft away. That seems very close.
So I removed the BE25-Outdoor from the app. Added it back. No difference.

I checked the firmware and it is up to date.

The thing is, the unit will never connect to the BE65-Outdoor. It will however connect to any of my BE63's that I have any where in the house. Some very far away.

I do plan to run an Ethernet cable to this unit back to my main Deco, but in the mean time would like to make this work. Kinda believe the issue lies on the Be65-Outdoor as it's the newest unit and the only one I Can't connect to with the BE25.

Sorry for the late reply. I don’t work for TP-Link, I just do this to help them out so they can focus on getting firmware updates out.

If you still have the issue with the BE65 try the following.

 Please access the Deco web UI by entering "tplinkdeco.net" in your browser. Navigate to Advanced > System > System Log, select "ALL" in the log type, and save the file to your local computer.

Name the log file Log 1

Now use the instructions in this post https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2400/ to set the BE65 unit as the Main Deco.

Now see if everything connects

If everything connects now, make a 2nd log and call that Log 2

Once I hear back from you I can go over how to open the ticket and submit the logs

  @HelpFixDecoApp  I sppreciate your reply.

I decided to just get it installed and run the backhaul to my main deco. Didnt really want to set it as a main because everything works so well right now. So its not a problem at the moment.

However, it would be nice to have a firmware download for this unit.. if you go to the DECO BE65-Outdoor support page.. there is no firmware tab like other units.

https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/deco-be65-outdoor/

I understand we are on 1.0 just would be nice to have as a back up.

  @JimAvera

Firmware is a big issue for people right now. I been having everyone put their firmware request in the same spot so the tp-link staff can track it all in one location .

See this ppost for more info

Re:DECO BE65-Outdoor Connection Issues

  @JimAvera

So I am seeing some similar issues. I have three BE63 inside the house and one BE65 outdoor outside and two X50 outdoor.

I at first had BE63 outdoor as POE with Ethernet backhaul and no X50 outdoor would connect with it. If I disconnected the Ethernet from the POE so the BE65 was connecting to the nearest BE63 inside via WIFi it would then connect to the X50 outdoor units as expected. So I connected the Ethernet back into the POE adapter and set the BE65 as the main unit. the BE63 inside was still wired into the same network as the BE65 outdoor, everything connected to the BE63 inside and not the BE65 outdoor.  I also noticed that the maximum speed with the speed test was about 1.3 Gbps and I was getting 2.25 Gbps when the BE63 was the main unit. I ended up swapping the BE63 with the BE65 outdoor and tested the speed again. the maximum was again 1.3 Gbps.

So I am now running the Ethernet backhaul only inside with the 3 BE63 units and everything outside is WiFi and working fine. Once they fix it with an update I will use Ethernet backhaul to the BE65 outdoor again.

SO I am wondering if you run your unit with the wired Ethernet removed if it will then connect to all the other units as expected via WiFi?

I bet it will and so I am assuming that there is a bug with the 2.5 Gbps port that is causing it not to play well with others. I hope they fix it soon.

3. Describe the issues you are facing and send the email.
4. Within a few minutes, you will receive an automated response with a TKID number.
5. Upon receiving this email, please access the Deco web UI by entering "tplinkdeco.net" in your browser. Navigate to Advanced > System > System Log, select "ALL" in the log type, and save the file to your local computer. Then, reply to the email you just received, attach the log file, and kindly request that your ticket be escalated to a senior engineer for further assistance.
