Model: Tapo C120
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.2, Build 250620, Rel.39379n

I have a black Tapo C120 camera that is quiet in person, but "chirps" constantly at random intervals through the speaker as you watch it, both in live view and in the recordings. I installed 2 Tapo cameras on the same day, and the other one, a white version, is fine, but this one constantly makes this racket. The only difference I can think of is that the black one is somewhat near a digital clock. Do other electronics interfere? I've viewed it on 2 different phones and on my Echo Show, and it is the same on every device. (And it was doing it before I linked anything to Alexa so it isn't related to that.)

Is this a normal issue? Do I have a defective camera? Are there any settings that could make a difference?

Hi,
1. Please ensure the Tapo C120 has the latest firmware.
How to update the firmware of the Tapo devices on the Tapo App

2. Try to turn down the Tapo C120 microphone volume by navigating to the camera's Live View > tapping the microphone icon.

3. Check whether the microphone hole is blocked by dirt, and clean the surface dirt appropriately.

4. Replug the power cable to reboot the camera and ensure the power cable is securely connected.

If the chirping sounds remain, you can contact our technical support for further assistance.

Best Regards

@Solla-topee  The camera has the latest firmware. It does this no matter where I set it up, even in another residence. I have a white version that does just fine. Since I don't want 2 brands, I tried purchasing another black camera to go in the location on a black shelf, and when setting it up with the internet it seemed fine, for the 2 minutes I listened. Then I did the firmware update, shut it down, and moved it to my Mom's room. Plugged it in and it was back to all the chirping/clicking, on this new black C120! No matter what the volume is set at. So I moved it to another location to test it, and to another house and internet altogether, and it does the same. And not just with one of the cables - they are both doing it! It made me think I should not have done the firmware update, so on one of them I reset to factory settings. It didn't help. They were both brand new cameras, they aren't dirty, it makes no sense. I don't want a white camera in that location or I would just stick to the white ones.

And of course I'm not wild about the audio quality on either, in the sense that they all filter out so much of the background noise that I can't hear what I want to hear. If my mom plays the piano, I just hear little clinks of the notes. I can hardly tell what the song would be. And there is no way to control how much it filters. So the Blink I had used was very noisy with the background noise, and the Tapo filters out too much, but at least with the Blink I could hear what was being said or what music was being played, etc.

So if there is no fix for the issues with the black Tapos I have, I may have to look at something else. I like everything else about the cameras, so I was really hoping there would be some kind of fix.
