Deco BE 25 can't go to max speed wired

Our current internet is at 1.5 gb. When I do speed test on Deco app, it is correct. However, when testing via cat6 wired to my capable PC with 2.5 gb ethernet port, I can only achieve around 950 ish. I also tried this with my macbook with a usb 3.0 to 2.5 gb ethernet adapter and get the same thing. Testing is via speedtest.net.
my iphone 16 pro wifi when stand next to the deco main router is at 1.4.
What seem to be the problem?

Hi @LL75
Welcome to the community.
When testing both the PC and the macbook, did you use the same cat6 cable, or was it a different cable for each test?
If the same cable was used, do you happen to have a different 2.5Gbps capable cable available to swap and test with — to rule out the cable as a potential culprit?

thanks for the reply. All of the cables connected to the pc and the macbook are brand new Cat6 wires and only 5 ft in length as well. I googgled that even cat 5e with that short distance and both ends are 2.5 gb capable should also work..
Since the Deco25 comes with 3 pucks. Should I try to change one of the other two pucks to make it a router?

Thanks for the clarification. I would agree with your suggested next step of swapping one of the satellite nodes in as the main to see if the behavior persists.

Just want to update. I found out the issue. It is my VPN software SurfShark that caused this issue. No hardware issues. After uninstall it, the speed to the PC is almost the same as to the modem.

Well, that's an interesting one for sure — but it makes sense! Some VPN connections can potentially limit your maximum throughput, especially if you have a very high-speed Internet Connection. Excellent detective work on that one, honestly.
Thanks for sharing the solution in your case. I'm glad you were able to isolate the root cause and are back to enjoying full-speed connectivity.

@Ryan
the funny thing it throttled the speed even when I'm NOT connected to the VPN. I have to uninstalled it completely. Time to try a different VPN.
