Model: Tapo C425
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.12

Hello,

I have two TAPO C425 cameras. One of them (named "podjazd") is having issues with video quality when set to 2K resolution. The stream becomes extremely choppy and looks more like a sequence of photos than video. However, when I switch to 720p, the video plays relatively smoothly.

The strange part is that this problematic camera is very close to the router, and the Wi-Fi signal strength is excellent (-28 dBm RSSI). Meanwhile, the second camera (named "taras") is located on the other side of the house, with a weaker signal (-39 dBm RSSI), but it works perfectly fine even in 2K.

I noticed the following differences:

"Podjazd" camera:

Hardware version: 1.0

Firmware: 1.3.12

"Taras" camera:

Hardware version: 1.20

Firmware: 1.2.25

It seems like the older hardware version (1.0) may be struggling with the latest firmware (1.3.12). Can you confirm if there are known issues with this firmware version on older hardware? Is it possible to downgrade the firmware or get a patch to resolve this performance problem?

I’ve attached screenshots with device information from both cameras for your reference.

  @Pawelkosa

Hi,
The Tapo C425 V1, 1.3.12 has no known issues with the video quality. You can refer to Case 2 in the following instructions to troubleshoot.
What should I do if I can't view the Tapo camera?

If the same phenomenon persists, you may try rebooting your router and the camera, factory resetting the camera, and reconfiguring it, then test if it works fine.

Best Regards
