Hi @Fssmith2025
Welcome to the community!
There are a few ways you can use your Deco X25 with your Verizon gateway.
If your Verizon wireless gateway has a LAN Ethernet port, you'll want to connect your main Deco X25 to that port directly using an Ethernet cable. Then, depending on how you want to use your Deco, you can choose its operation mode - Router or Access Point.
Router Mode
- Becomes the main router/gateway for the devices in your network. In this mode, you will have access to the full set of features available to your model via the Deco app.
- Ideal for intuitive central management via the Deco app and ease of control over your network devices.
- Generally, it requires your existing router (Verizon Gateway) to be placed into "passthrough" or "bridge" mode, so it does not also try to perform routing functions, which can create network disruptions from a double NAT.
Access Point Mode
- Ideal for when you want your existing router (Verizon gateway) to remain the primary router in your network, and only want the Deco to perform basic wireless access point functions.
- In this mode, some Deco features that are exclusive to Router Mode may not be available.
- Does not require placing your Verizon gateway in "passthrough" or "bridge" mode.
Overall, you won't be able to manage your Verizon Gateway and the Deco from the Deco app - only your Deco can be set up and managed from the app. Additionally, they cannot seamlessly mesh, since your Verizon gateway is not a Deco Mesh device; however, you may opt to use the same SSID (Wi-Fi name) and password from your Verizon gateway on your Deco Wi-Fi network, if you would like.
