Hey Everyone,

We received feedback from some users that after their routers updated to the latest firmware, OpenVPN clients stopped working or could not connect properly.

Our development team has identified the cause: when an OVPN file contains two consecutive hash symbols (##) with a newline character between them, the reported unexpected behavior occurs.

Applies to:

Archer BE230_V1/V1.20_1.2.1 Build 20250804;

Archer BE230_V2_1.1.0 Build 20250718;

Archer BE900_V2_1.2.0 Build 20250722;

Archer BE700_V1_1.2.1 Build 20250709.

Available Solutions:

Solution 1: Manually Edit the .ovpn Configuration File

For users who are more comfortable with a simple, "DIY" approach and do not want to install beta firmware on their router, we recommend this solution.

  1. Open the .ovpn file with a text editor (e.g., Notepad).
  2. Locate any lines that contain two consecutive hash symbols (##) with a line break between them.
  3. Delete these lines entirely.
  4. Save the file and re-import it into the router's OpenVPN settings.

Solution 2: Beta Firmware
For some affected models, we are also offering compatible beta firmware as an option. This beta firmware allows the router to read configuration files correctly without manual editing.

Note: We encourage users who are not comfortable with installing beta firmware on their routers to pursue Solution 1.

Firmware Download:
Before Upgrading

(1) It is always recommended to save a copy of the router's Backup Config file before upgrading or downgrading firmware.
