Model: UB500
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

Our office got 6x new Dell computers.  When the UB500 adapter is installed the Dell computer will not power on or boot normally.  We get a slow blinking white light on the power button.

1) Unplugging the UB500 will result in the Dell computer powering up and booting right away!

2) If the UB500 is left plugged in...the computer might power up and boot after several hours or the next day

We have contacted dell support and they checked the Dell BIOS but so far have not been able to resolve the issue.

Items they checked included:

1) Latestes Dell BIOS 1.8.2

2) BIOS boot order

3) WAN & LAN enabled on boot

The Dell computers are brand new - DELL DESKTOPS DELL PRO MICRO QCM1250 35W TPM 16GB 256GBSSD INTEG NSTND WIN11PRO VPN:1D5HX

Has anyone encountered this problem?

@BigAl4U We are seeing this exact issue, same model Dell. I also noticed if you boot into BIOS while the UB500 is unplugged and then plug the device in, it will crash the PC.

Hello @BigAl4U  & @excelbamboo ,

Thanks for contacting our community.

Will your computers go to a blue screen when installing the adapters? There are many reasons if your computer goes to a blue screen when installing TP-Link wireless adapter. It might be caused by software issue that the TP-Link driver is not compatible with the operating system or there is a conflict between the driver and some software/file installed on your computer. It also might be caused by hardware reasons.
A typical case of software issue is the driver installed automatically by Windows OS is not compatible with our TP-Link adapter. In this way, please refer to How to troubleshoot if your computer goes to a blue screen when installing TP-Link wireless adapter to find and delete the incompatible driver.

  @Joseph-TP

No Blue Screen.  The Dell PC won't post unless the adapter is removed.

Once removed the PC will post and boot.  Then you can put the adapter back in and it will work.

The problem is when rebooting for maintenance etc....the Dell PC gets stuck on the post and someone has to physically remove the adapter.
